Routes and transit times by country

Sea is port to port; air is airport to airport plus customs. Neither includes trucking in China or delivery at destination. Days are rough ranges from published carrier schedules and trade press (level C, not official) and run longer in peak season, typhoons or detours.

Via Suez about 30–35 days; when the Red Sea is unsafe ships go round the Cape of Good Hope, adding 10–15 days. In 2026 some carriers are back on Suez and some still detour, so ask which route when you book. China–Europe rail avoids the Red Sea: China Railway’s fixed-timetable trains take 11–14 days (e.g. Xi’an–Budapest 10 days 23 hours, Zhengzhou–Hamburg 11 days 19 hours, Shijiazhuang–Warsaw 14 days 3 hours); ordinary rail services are about 30% slower.

Saudi Arabia · Jeddah
  • Sea18–25 daysvia Strait of Malacca → Bab el-Mandeb (Red Sea)
