Which overseas social platform should a Chinese exporter use? How to choose among the top 10

In forceOfficial textChecked
Answer

Start with who you sell to. For small consumer goods, lead with TikTok, Instagram and Facebook; add Snapchat for the Gulf and Pinterest for home and gift items. For wholesale and B2B buyers, lead with LinkedIn and back it with YouTube product and factory videos. To follow up inquiries and repeat customers, use WhatsApp Business (Middle East, Latin America, Europe) or Telegram. X builds brand and industry presence but rarely produces orders on its own. Beginners should pick one acquisition platform plus one chat tool, run them 4–8 weeks, and add more only once there is data. Each platform page covers sign-up, minimum ad budget and current offers.

Applies to
Chinese small-parcel exporters and factories who want to find buyers on overseas social platforms but don't know where to start.

1. Why these ten

We took the largest platforms by global users that Chinese sellers can use for overseas markets. WeChat, Douyin and Kuaishou are mainly domestic; Messenger is counted with Facebook.

4. Current official offers

  • New-advertiser credits: TikTok, Snapchat and Google run "spend X, get Y" offers. Amounts and regions depend on what your ad account shows; each platform page links the official terms.
  • Paid subscriptions: Meta One (from US$14.99/month), X Premium and Verified Organizations, LinkedIn Premium Business and Sales Navigator, Telegram Premium. None is needed to start; free features are enough.
  • Offers change often. Every page shows its check date; treat expired examples as expired.

5. How to start

  1. Use the table to pick one acquisition platform plus one chat tool.
  2. Register a business account under your company name, turn on two-step verification, and never share admin passwords.
  3. Post free content for 4 weeks: product demos, packing and shipping, factory footage, FAQs.
  4. Once a few posts get a response, test ads on a small budget for 2–4 weeks.
  5. Track weekly: spend, clicks, inquiries, cost per inquiry. If the test budget brings no inquiries, stop and change the creative.

6. Warning signs

  • Selling or renting accounts, "aged accounts", account "warming" or "ban-proof" services: against every platform's rules; accounts get banned.
  • Promises of guaranteed orders, guaranteed followers, fake views or reviews.
  • Anyone asking to keep your password or verification codes.
  • Fake platform support charging "verification" or "unban" fees: official fees are paid only on official pages.

Unknowns

  • X's current official user numbers.
  • Official minimum budgets for Meta, Pinterest, Telegram and Google video ads.
  • Details of official account-opening routes for mainland-China companies (mostly via official authorized partners; conditions not verified).
