How do Chinese exporters start on X (Twitter)? Verification, subscriptions and ads

In forceOfficial textChecked
Answer

X suits brand visibility and public conversation with overseas buyers, media and industry people; it is not a channel that produces orders by itself. A free regular account works as your business page. Verification has two routes: a personal Premium subscription (web prices Basic US$3/month, Premium US$8/month, Premium+ US$40/month in the US) or Verified Organizations in the company's name (Basic US$200/month, which includes a US$200/month ads credit for a limited time). X Ads is an auction with no minimum spend per official pricing, and you must add a credit card to start. Prices change; check the official pages.

Applies to
Chinese exporters who want brand presence, industry content and buyer interaction on X.

1. Which markets and buyers fit

  • Good fit (our judgment): tech, electronics, consumer brands, industry news, trade shows and product launches, aimed at English-speaking buyers, media and industry people.
  • Weaker fit: image-search-driven home items (Pinterest suits better) or long-lived company profiles (LinkedIn suits better).
  • User numbers: we did not find a current official or verifiable Tier-B figure, so none is given. See Unknowns.
  • The platform is not directly accessible in mainland China; use it only through lawful, compliant means. This page gives no access methods.

2. How to sign up (personal / business / ad account)

AccountHowSource
Regular accountFree; use as your business pagen/a
Ads accountLog in with the account to promote, go to ads.x.com, choose country and time zone (sets billing currency, cannot be changed), enter billing info(A, Ads account creation)
RequirementsThe X account and ads account must follow the rules; the account owner must authorizesame
  • Use a company-domain email for recovery, turn on login verification, use strong unique passwords.
  • Payment: credit cards (Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover, Diners Club in the US only, JCB in JPY/USD only, China UnionPay credit only); debit only Visa, Mastercard, American Express. A valid card is required before a campaign starts; a temporary hold of about US$5 verifies the card (A, billing basics).
  • Supported countries for self-serve ads: the signup page gives no list; see Unknowns.
  • Official onboarding route for mainland China companies: not found.
  • Materials: email, phone, payment card. Verified Organizations also needs an organization email, website domain and a complete profile.

3. Daily operation and upkeep

  • Frequency: no official recommendation found. Our judgment: a steady rhythm built on product use, factory footage and industry topics, not slogans.
  • Security: two-step verification, minimal admin access, no shared passwords.
  • Platform manipulation and spam policy (A, official policy) prohibits:

- Mass or automated account creation; high-volume unsolicited replies, mentions or DMs. - Buying or selling followers or engagement; follow-for-follow and "Repost for Repost" trading. - Buying, selling or trading accounts or usernames. - Repeated identical posts or DMs; posting mainly bare links. - Hashtag abuse and hijacking trends. - Malicious, phishing, misleading or affiliate links.

  • Multiple accounts: up to ten accounts for non-duplicative purposes are allowed; using several to push a trend, engage the same posts or cross-post identical content is not.
  • Enforcement: lock with phone or CAPTCHA checks, reduced visibility, feature limits; repeat offences lead to permanent suspension, and severe cases such as account trading can be banned on first detection. Appeals are available.

4. Ads

  • Pricing: auction. Cost depends on ad engagement, audience size, competing advertisers and your bid; you pay only when the billable action for your objective occurs (for example a link click for website traffic). The page says there is no minimum spend; control cost with a total campaign budget (A, ads pricing).
  • Billing: advertisers are charged when the credit limit is reached; if campaigns end with no spend for 3 days, the balance is charged. Older accounts may still use the earlier rule (25% of limit, US$500, 7 days or month end, whichever first). Spending US$5,000 or more per month: apply for an insertion order (A, same billing page).
  • Accounts can be halted for repeated chargebacks, failed payments or other suspicious activity; appeal through X Ads Help.
  • Review and restricted categories: follow X Ads policies and the restricted-content pages; the official lists govern.
  • Conversion tracking and objectives: see the options in Ads Manager.

6. What results to expect

There is no reliable public average. Test it yourself:

  1. Post on a fixed schedule for 6 to 8 weeks; track profile visits, link clicks and inquiries.
  2. Start ads small, changing one variable at a time.
  3. If clicks are high but valid inquiries are zero, stop and rework content or channel.

A badge does not guarantee reach or orders. No results are promised.

7. Warning signs

  • Anyone selling "managed growth", bought followers, account warming or guaranteed reach.
  • Offers to buy or sell accounts, evade rules with multiple accounts, change IP, or fake engagement. These break platform rules and our red lines.
  • "Free verification through an official channel" that asks for payment first.
  • DMs with "verify your account" links whose domain is not x.com.
  • Requests for your ad-account password or card.

Unknowns

  • Current X monthly user numbers (no A-grade source obtained).
  • List of countries where self-serve ads are available.
  • A general new-advertiser credit; when the Verified Organizations ads credit ends.
  • Official onboarding route for mainland China companies; whether a business licence is required.
  • Non-US Premium prices, and whether Premium+ changed again after February 2025.
  • An official posting-frequency recommendation.
