Shipping parcels from China to Switzerland: when is a parcel free of VAT and duty?

In forceOfficial textChecked
Answer

It's the tax amount, not the goods value: import tax of CHF 5 or less isn't collected; standard VAT 8.1%; mail-order sellers register at CHF 100,000 annual turnover from small consignments. Once registered, small consignments stay exempt from import VAT, but not from the seller's domestic VAT.
